What is Astrophytum myriostigma var. strongilogonum

Astrophytum myriostigma var. strongilogonum (scientific name: Astrophytum myriostigma var. strongilogonum) is a perennial & succulent plant of the cactus family Cactaceae, native to Mexico. It is also known by the other names Astrophytum myriostigma, strongilogonum or strongilogonum. In its native region, it grows wild in upland areas. It is a thornless cactus with three to eight (usually five) vertical ribs. The body is a dark green, 20 to 60 cm in diameter, circular hermaphrodite palm with ribs (usually 5-ridged) that look star-shaped when viewed from above (hence the genus name). The five ridges become rounded after about seven years from seedling, six ridges after about 10 years, eight ridges after 15 years, and then become cylindrical. It produces one or more yellow flowers 7 to 9 cm in diameter at the apex from May to October. The flowers produce reddish fruits 2 to 2.5 cm in diameter when pollinated.
