What is Hime-tsurubo

Hime-tsurubo (Barnardia japonica 'Nana', Synonym:Scilla scilloides 'Nana') is a dwarf cultivar of the perennial bulbous plant Scilla scilloides (Tsurubo) of the family Asparagaceae, genus Scilla.
It is also called Sandai-gasa (literally “imperial court umbrella”).
It grows naturally in sunny places in mountains and fields.

The plant height is 20–40 cm.
Leaves are basal, linear, and there are no cauline leaves.
From between the leaves, an erect scape emerges, producing a raceme in August to September with pale pink to white flowers about 0.3 cm in diameter.
