Characteristics: Cerasus maximowiczii has a wide habitat distribution from Hokkaido to Kyushu, and is a species of cherry tree with white flowers that bloom in flat openings. Flowering is late, in May, and the flowers, which bloom in racemes, are small and have no lobes at the tips of the petals.

Cerasus maximowiczii , Miyama cherry, Korean mountain cherry (scientific name: Cerasus maximowiczii) is a deciduous broad-leaved tree belonging to the family Rosaceae and the genus Cerasus, native to Japan, the Korean Peninsula, and China. In Japan, it is distributed in the forest margins of subalpine mountains in Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu. 4-8 small white flowers bloom from May to June after the leaves have fully opened, extending from the lateral branches in a raceme.
