What is Natsudaidai orange
Amanatsu (Citrus natsudaidai 'Hayata') is an evergreen small tree of the Rutaceae family, genus Citrus, and is a bud mutation cultivar of Natsumikan (Citrus natsudaidai), which is native to Japan.
Its official name is Kawano Natsudaidai, named after Mr. Kawano of Tsukumi City, Oita Prefecture, who cultivated it.
It is also known as Amanatsu Mikan.
It is sweeter and less acidic than Natsumikan, making it easier to eat.
The tree grows to a height of 300 cm.
It produces white flowers from April to May.
The fruit that follows has an orange rind and orange flesh, with a bumpy surface on the skin.
