Crataegus laevigata 'Paul's Scarlet'

Paul's scarlet hawthorn, Crataegus laevigata 'Paul's Scarlet',is a horticultural variety of the Common Hawthorn that produces pink flowers among the white ones. It typically grows to a height of 5-8 meters with a width of 4-6 meters, featuring thorny branches and densely double-petaled deep pink blossoms. In autumn, it bears red fruits. It is known by the English name "Paul's Scarlet Hawthorn."

The "Crataegus laevigata," also known as the Midland Hawthorn or English hawthorn, is a deciduous shrub native to Europe and belongs to the Rosaceae family. It is also referred to as the Woodland hawthorn and the Red Hawthorn due to its pink blossoms. It is considered beneficial for the heart, with its fruits and leaves used to treat heart diseases such as arrhythmia, palpitations, and myocardial weakness, as well as conditions like tonsillitis and indigestion. When combined with Ginkgo biloba, it is believed to help prevent memory decline.
