“Letters on the Wind” – Daphne odora

by Aqua

At winter’s end, when bare branches still sway,
Tiny buds begin to gently bloom.

It’s Daphne odora.
Her petals may be modest,
But her fragrance travels farther than any voice.

“I miss you.”
“Stay well.”
“Let’s laugh together again in spring.”

Such words, carried on the wind.

So they may softly reach someone’s heart.
Though unseen,
They will be felt.

Today too, Daphne writes her letters in scent—
That is her gentle way of speaking.
