Gardenia jasminoides

Gardenia jasminoides, gardenia, or cape jasmine (scientific name: Gardenia jasminoides) is native to East Asia and is an evergreen shrub of the Rubiaceae. The leaves are shiny and have an elliptical shape. Extend the inflorescence from the axils in the early summer and add fragrant pure white flowers. The flower is a tubular flower and the tip is split 5-6. Initially, the flowers that were pure white also turn yellow as time passes. The fruit ripening in the fall contains crocin (Crocin) which is the same ingredient as saffron and becomes yellow coloring. Use the dried fruit as a pigment that colors yellow chestnut or use it as a traditional Chinese medicine. The name of gardenia is the name of a botanist. Breeding is done with cuttings. Floral flowering is the basic type, but double flowering, there is also Ohwa blooming.
