Marco Polo (scientific name: Lilium "Marco Polo") is a horticultural variety of lily native to Japan and a hardy bulbous plant of the genus Lilium in the family Liliaceae. Oriental hybrid lilies refer to horticultural varieties bred from the Japanese native lilies goldband lily (scientific name: Lilium auratum) and Japanese lily (scientific name: Lilium speciosum).
The plant height is 80-120 cm. From June to September, flower stalks extend from the top of the stem, blooming in a slightly upward-facing direction. The center of the flower is white, and the large petals are pink from the middle to the tip, with wavy edges. The flowers have a bright, sweet, and spicy fragrance characteristic of lilies, which can be smelled when bringing the face close to the flower. The fragrance lasts for about five days. This variety is popular for garden planting, potted plants, and cut flowers.
