Kanoko Lily

Kanoko Lily (Lilium speciosum) is a perennial plant in the genus Lilium of the Liliaceae family, native to Taiwan, China, and Japan.
It is also known as Doyō Lily and Tanabata Lily.
In Japan, it grows wild on the cliffs of low mountains in Kyushu and Shikoku.
Its distinctive feature is the red spots on the petals, resembling a kanoko pattern; the petals curve backward, causing the flowers to bloom facing downward.

The plant grows to a height of 60 cm to 150 cm and has an underground bulb.
From July to September, it produces flower stalks that extend racemes or panicles from the tips, bearing 10 to 20 delicate flowers per stem, each with a diameter of 10 to 15 cm. Pollen color: red.
The flowers are grown for ornamental purposes, while the bulbs are used for food and medicinal purposes.
Propagation is done via bulbs and seeds.
