Pachypodium brevicaule

Pachypodium brevicaule, commonly as zemasis (scientific name: Pachypodium brevicaule) is native to Madagascar and is an alpine dwarf succulent plant/small shrub in the genus Pachypodium of the Oleander family. It grows naturally on sandstone in the Antananarivo to Itremo Mountains in south-central Madagascar at elevations of 1,400 to 2,000 meters. It is shaped like a potato rhizome. The sparse leaves are in oval rosettes with hairs on the underside of the leaf. From March to May, it grows in concentrated inflorescences and produces 2-7 bright yellow flowers with a diameter of 2 to 3 cm. After flowering, the branches branch out and enlarge. The Japanese name is "Ebisu Laugh.
