Ruscus hypophyllum (scientific name: Ruscus hypophyllum) is a cold- and shade-tolerant evergreen small shrub native to the Canary Islands to the Caucasus and belonging to the family Asparagaceae. It is called spineless butcher's-broom. It is dioecious. The leafy branches are soft and thornless. Flowers are borne on both or either side of the leafy branches. It grows well in shade, and is used as a branching material in bouquets because it is long-lived.
