Welwitschia mirabilis

Wilwitschia mirabilis is an inherent species of the African-Namib desert and is a gymnosperm that belongs to the family Welwitschiaceae. This species alone constitutes one family, one genus. It is the national flower of Namibia. Leaves will only be released for 2 lifetime and will continue to last forever. It is a dioecious strain, both female flowers and male flowers are in a Matsukasa shape. Flowers are attached to the axil on the axil. An important ingenuity has been applied to plants to survive the desert areas where extremely hot weather and precipitation is minimal during the daytime. The cuticular layer of the leaves is thick, and there are pores on both sides of the leaves, which absorb moisture (fog) in the atmosphere. The main roots and the spongy branches spread widely, so that the ground water is sucked up from the roots and the leaves are chilled. It is said that you will live 2,000 years with long life span. The plant name is based on the name of the Austrian explorer Friedrich Welwitsch who discovered the herbs on September 3, 1859. The Japanese name of fantasy outside was attached by Mr. Ishida Kanro in 1936.
