Allium giganteum (scientific name: Allium giganteum) is native to Himalayas and is a bulb plant of the family Amaryllidaceae. Late spring to early summer, stretch long flower stalks, bloom a large spherical purplish flower resembling a bamboo octopus at the tip. It is a tall plant, planted in a row in the botanical garden and stands out. Allium means garlic in Latin, giganteum means huge. In the same allium genus, there is a {{chive}} (scientific name: Allium schoenoprasum).
