What is Euonymus hamiltonianus

Euonymus hamiltonianus or Mayumi (Scientific name: Euonymus hamiltonianus) Is a cold-resistant deciduous shrub belonging to the family Celastraceae native to mountains in Japan and China. In early summer light green four flower blossoms will bloom and in autumn we can enjoy a lot of red fruits and seeds, autumn leaves. The fruit hangs from the branch like a cherry tree, it is angular and the four corners are broken. When the pericarp matures, it cracks into four, and bright red seeds appear. Garden trees, bow, stamps, combs and other processed materials, sprouts are edible as wild plants. Seeds are poisonous and can not be eaten. There are Shiro-mayumi (scientific name:s andalwood) which puts red seeds on the white fruit as a garden cultivar.
