Chelidonium majus or greater celandine (scientific name: Chelidonium majus) is a perennial plant of the family Papaveraceae native to Eurasia. It grows naturally in sunny areas from Honshu to Kyushu, and is known as a pioneer plant that grows quickly during deforestation. It grows to a height of 50 to 80 cm. The leaves are rhizomatous and rosette-shaped, with two pinnate compound leaves. In summer, it produces yellow four-petaled flowers in a spreading inflorescence from the tip of the stem.
