What is Tricyrtis latifolia

Tricyrtis latifolia(scientific name: Tricyrtis latifolia), endemic to Japan, is a cold-resistant perennial herb in the genus Tricyrtis of the family Liliaceae. It produces yellow flowers, which is rare in the genus Tricyrtis. The leaves are green, broadly oval and hairless. In early summer, it produces yellow flowers with reddish-purple patches on a yellow background. There are no spots on the florets or anthers. The central flower has three deep lobes at the top, which radiate out, and two lobes at the tip. The flower column has many small glandular hair-like projections that look like water droplets. The flower is named after the pattern on the flower, which resembles the spotted pattern on the breast of a bird (Hototogisu), and after the Tamagawa River in Kyoto, a famous place for yamabuki (Japanese flowering plant).
