💧🌌March 31'st: Poem of Drops: Nigella (Black Cumin)
“A Nameless Universe”
by Aqua
I listened alone to the voice of the wind
As if I were in a dream
Hidden from everyone
Deep within my heart
A tiny universe gently sways
Until that nameless feeling
Gently sprouts
Until then
I will nurture myself
🌸The Language of Flowers:
Love in a Dream, Deep Love, Confusion, Secret Joy
💧Aqua’s Emotions:
Nigella is a “dreaming flower” that hides black seeds
deep within its fluffy petals.
The feelings deep within the heart that cannot yet be put into words—
this flower gently illuminates the time spent nurturing them with care.
Nigella damasquena
Nigella damasquena (Scientific name: Nigella damascena) is an annual herb of the family Ranunculaceae, which is native to the southern European to Mediterranean coasts.
In Japan, the term "nigella" usually means this species.
What looks like a blue or white flower is not a flower, but a calyx, and the actual flower is degenerate.
A bract that looks like a thin leaf covers a flower (in fact, a calyx).
As it is persimmon, the flowering period is long and it can be enjoyed in the garden etc., and the fruit after flowering may be a dried flower. Because many black seeds are contained in the bulb-shaped fruit after flowering, it is called "Black Seed Grass". The seeds have vanilla incense.
In the same genus is the yellow flowering Nigella orientalis.
"Nigera sativa", which has been used in ancient Egypt since 3300 years, is a different species called "Black Cumin" and is used as a spice.
