Asahi Haran (Asahi-ha-ran, scientific name: Aspidistra elatior ‘Asahi’) is a horticultural variety of the evergreen perennial Haran (Aspidistra elatior) —
a variety featuring white variegation (white spots) at the tips of its leaves.
It is also frequently used as cut foliage in floral arrangements.

Genus name (Aspidistra): A compound word derived from the Greek “aspidion” (small shield) and “aster” (star), referring to the star-shaped flowers and shield-shaped stigmas.
The specific epithet “elatior”: means “taller” in Latin.
