Snow melts, the earth awakens
The first to bloom at that moment
Is a tiny blue rainbow droplet
Amidst the still-chilly wind
It blooms nonetheless, gazing skyward
“Spring is coming”
That flower, earlier than any other,
Illuminates the ground with the sky's color.

Iris reticulata is a bulbous plant in the Iris family.
→ A small bulb iris blooming in early spring (late February to March)
→ The sight of its blue-purple flowers peeking through the thawing ground is moving 💜🌱

Origin: Turkey to the Caucasus region
Classification: Kingdom Plantae, Division Magnoliophyta, Class Liliopsida, Order Asparagales, Family Iridaceae
Plant Height: Small species, about 10-15cm (4-6 inches)
Flowering Period: Late February to mid-March (Early spring flowers!)
Flower Color: Blue-violet, blue, white, yellow, etc. (sometimes with yellow markings in the center)
Characteristics: Slender, pointed leaves and delicate flowers blooming just above the ground
→ They are the first “signs of spring” to appear on the thawing earth ✨
