What is Pleurotus eryngii

Pleurotus eryngii (scientific name: Pleurotus eryngii) is a member of mushrooms in the family Pleurotaceae native to Mediterranean region, Middle East and North Africa. It has a shade-like head and a long, white, thick and soft shaft. It is cooked and eaten with a crispy texture. It doesn't have an aroma but can be used as an ingredient in various dishes such as sukiyaki and sauti. There are also Hiratake mushrooms(Pleurotus ostreatus) in the same genus. It is a fungus and does not flower. It is not adapted to the Flower Book entry.
