What is Fuzzy deutzia

Deutzia scabra or malba utsugi (scientific name: Deutzia scabra) is a deciduous shrub of the Hydrangeaceae family and is endemic to Japan. The trunk and pith of the branches are hollow. It is often branched. The leaves are ovate with dense, star-shaped hairs on both sides. The leaves are green, but turn red in autumn. In spring, it produces many white, five-petaled flowers with conical inflorescences growing on the ends of its branches. Its leaves are rounder than those of Deutzia crenata and its flowers are smaller than those of a sea urchin.
