What is Hypsizygus tessellatus

Lyophyllum shimeji or the daikoku shimeji (scientific name: Lyophyllum shimeji) is a species of mushroom in the shimeji genus Lyophyllum of the family Tricholomataceae. It is also known as hon-shimeji. It is cultivated in temperate regions throughout Japan. Honshimeji is a rhizogenic fungus, which means that it grows on the roots of living trees. The main body is composed of a dark brown capsule and a white shaft. The umbrella is 5 cm tall and the shaft is 8 cm long. It is cultivated all year round and is used for food.
