What is Nippon daisy
Nippon daisy , Nippon-chrysanthemum, or hamagiku (scientific name: Nipponanthemum nipponicum、synonym:Chrysanthemum nipponicum) endemic to Japan, is a cold-tolerant, drought-tolerant, tide-tolerant perennial herb/subshrub of the genus Nipponanthemum (Asteraceae). It can be found on sandy beaches and shorelines along the Pacific coast from Aomori to Ibaraki prefectures. It is also known as Nippon daisy. The stems are thick, hairless, and woody. From September to November, it produces 5 to 6 cm diameter head-shaped flowers composed of white tongue-shaped flowers and yellow tubular flowers. The petals of the Hamagiku (N. nipponicum) are broader than those of other similar flowers, giving it a wild flavor. It has a strong odor and attracts many flies. It propagates by underground stems.
