What is Canistel
Canistel (scientific name: Pouteria campechina) is a tropical American native, and is an evergreen small tree and fruit tree of thefamily Sapotaceae. The leaves are oblong and elongated. The flower color is pale green, and 2 to 5 flowers are crowded and made to bloom. Fruit of about 10 cm in length will be from January to June after flowering. The shape of the fruit is spherical or oval and has a pointed tip. The fruits ripen and turn bright orange or yellow. Mainly, it is eaten raw and used for processed products such as pies and jams.
