What is Golden Dragon Vine
Strophanthus divaricatus or commonly called at Golden Dragon Vine (Scientific name: Strophanthus divaricatus) is an evergreen, vine-like shrub native to China and Vietnam, belonging to the genus Strophanthus in the Apocynaceae family.
Its vines can reach 1.5 meters in length.
The leaves are glossy, oblong-elliptical in shape, 3-19 cm long, with entire margins and arranged oppositely.
From May to July, it produces cymes bearing yellow tubular flowers.
Yellow, spaghetti-like filamentous flowers emerge from the tips of the tubular corolla.
The fruit that forms after flowering is green and shaped like two shishito peppers joined together. When ripe, it turns brown, splits open, and releases seeds covered in white cottony fibers that are dispersed by the wind.
