Gymnadenia conopsea

Gymnadenia conopsea or Tegata-chidori (scientific name: Gymnadenia conopsea) is native to the Eurasian Continent and is a perennial of the Orchidaceae. In Japan, It grows naturally in alpine in Hokkaido. In the summer, it puts out flower stems, and is makes a large number of small floral florets bloom in a inflorescence stretched from its tip. The origin of the Japanese name depends on the fact that the roots are similar to hand shape or that the shape of the flower resembles a plover flies. There are several of the Gymnadenia genus such as Dactylorhiza Aristata(Hakusan-chidori, scientific name:：Dactylorhiza aristata), Nobine-chidori(scientific name: Neolindleya camtschatica ), Gymnadenia conopsea(Tegata chidori), etc, and their colors are also pink ornd similar to one another. In detail, the lip part of the flower has no conspicuous group in the Gymnadenia conopsea(Tegata chidori), whereas the hakusanchidori has a deep red spot, and the nobine-chidori contains two purple vertical lines. Leaves are widely linear in Tegata-chidori, Hakusan-chidori has an overwhelmed needle shape, and Nobine-chidori has an elliptical shape.
