What is Artemisia stelleriana

Artemisia stelleriana (scientific name: Artemisia sieboldii) is a perennial herb in the family Asteraceae, native to China, Korea, Japan, Sakhalin, the Kuril Islands, and the Aleutian Islands of the United States. It grows naturally in sandy coastal areas from Hokkaido to central Honshu and northward, growing in clusters as if crawling on the ground. It looks white because its leaves and stems are covered with white hairs. The tips of the stems rise up in summer and produce spherical head flowers in conical inflorescences.
There are many cultivars such as 'Boughton Silver' (aka 'Silver Brocade'), 'Nana' ('Nana'), and 'Ellsworth' ('Ellsworth').
