Camellia “Shiratama", (scientific name: Camellia japonica 'Shiratama') is a cultivar of camellia. It is white, single, medium circle (flower diameter 4-6 cm), round buds, and blooms from October to March. A classic variety from the Edo period, one of Kyoto's famous camellia. Popular as tea and cut flowers. The white flower of the tea ceremony is a famous camellia flower called “Shiratama”.
