What is Rhododendron ‘Taiyo’

Rhododendron ‘Taiyo’ (scientific name: Rhododendron ‘Taiyo’) is an evergreen shrub in the family Ericaceae. It is a heat-resistant variety called Super Roadie. Rhododendron ‘Taiyo’ was bred by Koichiro Wada using Rhododendron ponticum as a crossing parent. It is a very early blooming variety and blooms red-purple large flowers. The leaves are toxic because they contain venom such as rhodotoxin.
